Nate’s Success Story

Nate suffered a brain injury which left him with frequent seizures. His independence had been severely limited and he could no longer live on his own. A social worker he knew suggested looking in to Restart’s Independent Living Skills (ILS) program. Since his time with Restart, Inc., Nate has lived in three of our residences and is currently living in one of our most independent residences, the Villa.

Restart encouraged Nate to go to college, and he completed his studies at Brown College and the Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC), focusing on video production, digital photography, and welding. You’ll see Nate carrying his camera taking beautiful pictures, a hobby he developed during his college experience. He also serves as one of Restart’s maintenance crew, helping with the upkeep of our residences.

We are proud of Nate’s incredible progress over the last several years and the steps he has taken on his journey to independence.  Nate continues to make good progress towards his personal goal of living in his own apartment.

Nate is only one of our many success stories. Every day, Restart helps others just like him make their way toward a more independent and meaningful life.
